2 Tricks On How To Tell If Someone Blocked You On Facebook

When someone blocks you on Facebook, they magically disappear from the site. You no longer have access to their pictures, their status updates, nothing! Here is how to check:

METHOD 1: Using Facebook Search

1. Open Facebook. Either tap the Facebook app icon that resembles a white “f” on a blue background (mobile), or go to https://www.facebook.com/ (desktop). Next, go to your News Feed if you’re already logged into Facebook.

If you aren’t logged in, type in your email address and password to get access.

2. Now go to the search bar. Tap or select the white box that says “Search” on the top side of the page.

3. Type in the person’s name whom you suspect blocked you, then tap on See results for [name] (mobile) or press ↵ Enter (desktop).

4. Make sure to choose the People tab. It’s at the top of the page. Sometimes people who have blocked you or deleted their accounts will appear in the All tab of the search results, but these individuals will not show up in the People tab.

5. Search for the person’s profile. Now, if you can see the profile while on the People tab of the search results, your friend’s profile is still active, meaning that they just unfriended you.

On the other hand, if you can’t find the profile, they may have deleted their account or blocked you from seeing it; but then they may also have set their privacy settings high enough that you can’t look them up on Facebook.

If you do see the account, try clicking on it. You should be able to see a limited view of the profile if you aren’t blocked.

METHOD 2: Using a Mutual Friends List

1. Open Facebook. Either tap the Facebook app icon that resembles a white “f” on a blue background (mobile), or go to https://www.facebook.com/ (desktop). This will open your News Feed if you’re already logged into Facebook. If you aren’t logged in, type in your email address and password to get access.

2. Go to a friend’s profile page as in someone who is currently also friends with the person whom you think blocked you. To do so:

  • Select the Search bar.
  • Type in your friend’s name.
  • Type in their name in the drop-down box.
  • Type in their profile image.

3. Click on the Friends tab. It’s under the grid of photos near the top of their profile (mobile) or directly under their cover photo (desktop).

4. Select the search bar. Click on the “Search Friends” bar at the top side of the screen (mobile) or in the upper-right side of the Friends page (desktop).

5. Type in the person’s name. Enter in the name of the person whom you think blocked you. After the results appear, the friend’s list should refresh with results.

6. Search for your friend’s name. If you see the friend’s name and profile picture in the results, they haven’t blocked you.

On the other hand, if you don’t see the name and picture here, the person has either blocked you or deleted their account. One way to find out is by asking the friend whose page you’re on to verify the account’s existence.
